Shimamoto Hits Two Dingers, Dragons Win, 12-4
The Portland Dragons easily defeated the Portland (E) Lobster, 12-4, at Ballpark of Portland, with designated hitter Shigenobu Shimamoto a main contributor to the win. He went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for Portland. The win for the Dragons lifted their record to 48-48.

The Lobster had been locked in a 4-4 tie with the Dragons going into the top of the eighth inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old third baseman Ray Farr came to the plate. Farr hit a run-scoring double on a 2-2 fastball from Portland (E) hurler Jose Zavala. It was Farr's 22nd double of the year.

"We hit the ball on the barrel," said Portland manager Greg Carpenter.
