Gaedels Make It 4 In a Row with 3-1 Triumph Over Santiago
|
Starting pitcher Carlos Yturralde did his part in helping the St. Louis Gaedels thwart the Santiago Avispas, 3-1. Hogai Yasuda earned his 5th save, after closing out the game. The Gaedels move to 46-49 with the win, while the Avispas drop to 47-47.
Erleisi Valido had a big 3-run home run for the Gaedels in the bottom of the sixth inning. With St. Louis trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Miguel Cordova and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the Gaedels on top, 3-1.
"I was able to change speeds effectively tonight," said Yturralde.
