Twins Squelch Avispas Offense in Shutout Win
The Cincinnati Twins used a great performance from Edwin Vazquez, who is tied for 9th in the EC in wins with 8, to beat the Santiago Avispas, 3-0, at Cincinnati Grounds. Vazquez, now 8-5, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing no runs. The Twins, at 47-49, inhabit second place in the Eastern Conference Zounes Kamuzu Division.

The Twins got a big at-bat from first baseman Willie Flores. For the game, Flores went 1-3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 19th double of the season gave Cincinnati a 2-0 lead.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Cincinnati manager Ryan Stoops.
