The home crowd had a good time watching the Portland Dragons and Phoenix Thunderbirds get after it.
The Phoenix Thunderbirds got a stellar effort from pitcher Yeniet Miranda, helping Phoenix score a win over the visiting Portland Dragons, 4-2. Miranda got the win, improving to 1-3. He gave up 2 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. He allowed no runs.
In the top of the ninth, Du Kau stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Dragons were trailing 4-2, but had runners on 1st and 3rd. That's when Alexis Cosme made a terrific pitch and Kau grounded out. Gone was the dream of a Portland comeback.
Portland has now lost 4 in a row.
