Greens Roll to 9-3 Win Over Twins
|
The Boston Greens picked up a win at Cincinnati Grounds, knocking off the Cincinnati Twins, 9-3. On the mound for Boston was right-hander Evan Umagas, who played a pivotal role in the win. Umagas, now 7-4, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. Boston, at 53-40, is 2 games up in the Eastern Conference Albert Castillo Division.
Boston relied on the hitting of Riley Cooke to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Greens on top, 7-0. For the game, Cooke had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
In postgame comments to the Boston Daily, Cooke said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
