Rangers Jolt Phantoms, 10-4, with Late Rally
|
The Buffalo Rangers weathered an outstanding game by Chicago left fielder Dave Yerges to topple the Phantoms, 10-4. Yerges was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win was credited to Ivan Rivas in relief. His record improves to 5-1. Hector Moreno took the loss. With the win, the Rangers sit at 47-45.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Bejo Ananas came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Chicago pitcher Hector Moreno, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Buffalo on top, 6-4.
Buffalo manager Alex Beckman was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
