Toros Earn Clutch Win, 6-5

The Tucson Toros had to overcome a fine effort from Seattle pitcher Aaron Lee to win, 6-5, at Aetna Stadium. Lee went 8 innings and allowed no runs. Tucson reliever Miguel Moquete picked up the win, raising his record to 7-4. Hugo Mesinas was tagged with the loss. The Western Conference Brian Boots Division-leading Toros have a record of 53-40.
The decisive blow was delivered by Vern Berg in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a grand slam home run off 34-year old left-handed pitcher Hugo Mesinas to win the game for Tucson. The home crowd went nuts.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said Seattle manager Dr. Jay Siber.
