Thanks in large part to first baseman Rickey Pfau, the Phoenix Thunderbirds beat the Portland Dragons, 6-4. Pfau was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The Thunderbirds saw their record improve to 56-36.
Pfau had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth to put Phoenix in front, 3-1. With the bases loaded, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run off Portland pitcher Tsunesaburo Kai.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Pfau told the Phoenix Observer.
