6 Straight Wins for Friars

The Maine Lobster got a superb performance from pitcher Jim Lawrence, but the San Francisco Friars still won the game, 3-2. Lawrence threw 6.0 innings of 2-hit ball. The winner in relief was Gwang-soo Pae. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 3-1. The triumph puts San Francisco at 47-46 for the season.
San Francisco took a 3-2 lead on Yasuji Yamada's 4th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Yamada hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Maine pitcher Gerald Blackman visibly frustrated.
"We busted our tails," said Maine manager Matthew McExpos. "But we came up short."
