The New York Titans picked up a win at Polo Grounds II, knocking off the Miami Cyclones, 6-3. Starting pitcher Al Garay played a key role in the triumph. Garay, now 8-5, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 3 runs. Bryant Basile recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 4 for 7.
Roberto Tandarica Jr. had a big 2-run double for the Titans in the bottom of the fourth inning. With New York leading 2-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a changeup from Eddie Palomino and swatted a double to left. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Titans ahead, 4-1.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Garay said.
The Eastern Conference Willis Briceno Division-leading Titans have a record of 59-34.
