Phoenix Bats Go Silent in 6-0 Loss
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the San Diego Destroyers and Phoenix Thunderbirds.

Tom Parmenter never let the Thunderbirds get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Destroyers to a win, 6-0. San Diego is now 53-39, 2 games up in the Western Conference Eric Wise Division.

Jose Gonzales had a big 2-run double for the Destroyers in the top of the fifth inning. With San Diego leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from former first round draft pick Arturo Noboa and swatted a double to center. It was his 32nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Destroyers ahead, 3-0.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said San Diego manager Steve Alstadt.
