Browns Earn 8-7 Win Against Senators
|
Fans watched the Brooklyn Browns and the Washington Senators fight to the finish.
Washington right fielder Justin Yount had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Yount went 2 for 5 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, even as Brooklyn beat the Senators, 8-7, in 14 innings. Kyle Burch snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 2 innings. He's now 4-0 on the season.
Josh Atkins drove in one run for Brooklyn. The 29-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the 14th. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 7-7 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Steve McFarlen. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
"Our team found a way to get it done," said Atkins.
Brooklyn has now won 3 straight, while the Senators have lost 3 in a row.
