Vikings Come Up Short at San Francisco, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring game between the San Francisco Friars and the Minneapolis Vikings, pitcher Doug Lovelace was masterful on the mound. The San Francisco right-hander spearheaded his team's 2-1 win. The first-place Friars have won 4 in a row.
The Vikings had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Friars going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old catcher Tim Valencia came to the plate. Valencia hit a 2-run home run on a first pitch fastball from Minneapolis hurler Pat Aranda. It was Valencia's 6th home run of the year.
"Thought I threw pretty well and overall I felt good," said Lovelace.
