Zatarain Excels in 8-1 Cincinnati Win
The 8-1 Cincinnati win over Miami was due largely to Luis Zatarain. The Twins shortstop was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 6. Edwin Vazquez earned the win. Ed Rice, who finished 5th in the EC in saves with 19 last year, took the loss for Miami. The Twins, at 45-46, sit in third place in the Eastern Conference Zounes Kamuzu Division.

Early in the game, Zatarain had a 3-run home run for Cincinnati. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Twins on top, 3-0.
