5 Straight Wins for Dragons
|
The Dragons grabbed a win, 5-3, at Minneapolis Grounds, overcoming a fine effort from Minneapolis pitcher Slider Brooks. Brooks went 5.1 innings and allowed no runs. Tsunesaburo Kai, the winning pitcher, is now 8-3. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, while fanning 7 and walking 2. Willie Bravo was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 13 of 13 save opportunities.
Portland used a clutch hit from Shigenobu Shimamoto to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Dragons ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Portland manager Greg Carpenter.
This win makes it 5 in a row for Portland.
