Metropolitanos Score Late to Upend Angels, 4-3
|
The Havana Metropolitanos picked up a win at Tesoro Stadium, knocking off the San Antonio Angels, 4-3. Starting pitcher Huggy Bruce was a big reason why. The win went to Eddie Ferrufino in relief. His record improves to 2-5. Hector Moreno took the loss. Victor Balaguer finished to wrap up his 24th save.
Havana needed the clutch hitting of Homer Hanes to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Metropolitanos on top, 4-3. For the game, Hanes had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"When Huggy's on, he's on," said Havana manager Kevin Mayerhofer.
The 'W' lifts Havana's record to 42-49.
