The Maine Lobster got a good effort from starter Tommy Pepper in defeating the San Francisco Friars at Ballpark of Portland. The final score was 7-1. Pepper yielded 1 run over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 4. His record improves to 8-5. The setback makes San Francisco 43-47.
Jonathan Farfan had a big 2-run double for the Lobster in the bottom of the second inning. With Maine leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a slider from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Armando Mata and swatted a double to center. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Lobster ahead, 3-0.
"When I go out there," said Pepper, "the last thing I want to do is let my teammates down."
