The San Diego Destroyers were defeated, 3-1, by the Kansas City Athletics at Seaward Stadium, even though Elmo Fasanaro pitched well for San Diego. The winner was John Zobel in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Elmo Fasanaro took the loss. Chris Whiffen was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 5 save opportunities.

Kansas City used the hitting of Dave Yerges to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Athletics on top, 2-1. For the game, Yerges had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
