Spectres Win Thriller, 3-2
|
Chicago got a valiant performance from pitcher Tommy Pepper, but it wasn't enough to beat the Philadelphia Spectres. Philadelphia won the game, 3-2. Pepper threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Philadelphia reliever Scott Franczak was credited with the win, to go to 1-3. Simone Banatoni took the loss for Chicago. The 4th-place Spectres have won 4 straight games.
Eric Kerfeld was the walk-off hero for Philadelphia. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Spectres catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Kerfeld said in his postgame press conference.
