The Havana Metropolitanos picked up a win at Estadio Latinoamericano, downing the San Francisco Friars, 3-0. On the mound for Havana was right-hander Dave Quintero, who played a pivotal role in the win. The first-place Metropolitanos bumped their record to 52-32.
The Metropolitanos had to work out of trouble with one out in the top of the ninth. The score was 3-0, Havana. But San Francisco, with runners on 1st and 2nd, had mounted a threat. Tim Valencia dug in at the plate. But on a 1-0 fastball, Valencia hit into a double play.
