Hanes Excels in 9-4 Havana Win
The Havana Metropolitanos grabbed a win, 9-4, over the San Francisco Friars at Estadio Latinoamericano. Havana third baseman Homer Hanes went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Reliever J.D. Haynes picked up the win. His record improves to 5-0. Salvatore Pino took the loss. Havana is now 51-33, San Francisco 40-45.

The Friars had been locked in a 4-4 tie with the Metropolitanos going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old left fielder Edward Black came to the plate. Black hit a run-scoring double on a first pitch fastball from San Francisco hurler Ivan Gonzalez. It was Black's 18th double of the year.

Hanes told a Havana Times reporter that he was "very pleased" with the win.
