The Tucson Toros rode a solid performance from 27-year-old starting pitcher Ron Trevathan to a win, beating the Minneapolis Vikings, 4-2, at Minneapolis Grounds. Tucson reliever Don Young was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Ken Lambros. With the loss, Minneapolis is 3-6.

Tucson used a timely hit from Mike Machacek to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Toros ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"I just trusted my stuff," said Trevathan.
