Vikings Earn Clutch Win, 9-8
Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Seaward Stadium.

The Minneapolis Vikings picked up a win at Seaward Stadium, knocking off the San Diego Destroyers, 9-8, in 13 innings. On the mound for Minneapolis was right-hander Andy Rooksberry. He played a pivotal role in the triumph. Reliever Shunsen Maekawa picked up the win. His record improves to 1-2. Keiji Kouchi took the loss.

Minneapolis needed the clutch hitting of David Elizalde to seal the deal. The catcher swatted a solo home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Vikings on top, 9-8. For the game, Elizalde had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.

"It's about putting our team in the best position to win ballgames," said Rooksberry.

The win has Minneapolis at 33-52.
