Athletics Win 5-3 Walk-Off
|
The Kansas City Athletics handed the San Francisco Friars a loss at Ballpark of Missouri. The final score was 5-3. Major production was provided by Andy Wetsch for Kansas City. In addition to his 1 single and 2 home runs, he scored 2 runs and drove in 3. He also added 1 walk. The win went to Andres Berrones in relief, making him now 4-2. Mike Pechtel took the loss for San Francisco. At 32-54, the Athletics claim 4th place in the Western Conference Manny Muro Division.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Wetsch hit a changeup from Mike Pechtel for a 2-run home run. The Athletics, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"The fans went nuts at the end," Wetsch said.
