Destroyers Handed 4-1 Loss by Havana
|
The Havana Metropolitanos knocked off the San Diego Destroyers, 4-1, in Eastern Conference action at Estadio Latinoamericano. Havana pitcher and Ponce, Puerto Rico, native Eddie Palomino had an outstanding performance. Palomino, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Jeans Rabasa, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
One pivotal at-bat came in the top of the sixth with no one out. With a runner on 1st and the Destroyers trailing 3-1, Eddie Palomino needed to make a quality pitch. He threw a 0-1 splitter to retire Vance Kitchen, who hit into a double play.
Yes, it was a win for Havana; but their 26-58 record is still nothing to boast about.
