Cincinnati starter Brian Burda kept the Portland (E) offense from doing much damage. The right-hander leaned on his fastball in leading the Twins to a 5-1 win. Burda, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Cincinnati has a record of 6-3.

Cincinnati used a well-timed hit by Marco Escutia to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Twins ahead, 4-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
