Phantoms Defeat Toros in 15
|
The Chicago Phantoms got a magnificent performance from pitcher Tommy Pepper, who muffled the Tucson offense en route to a tight, 1-0 Phantoms win at Aetna Stadium. Carlos Hoyos closed the door for Chicago, picking up his 1st save of the year. The Phantoms saw their record improve to 39-44.
Pepper, a native of Copiague, New York, was dealing all game. He kept Tucson hitters off-balance, while giving the Phantoms 7 quality innings. Pepper threw 96 pitches, allowing 3 hits and striking out 7.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Chicago skipper Sam J. "I can't complain."
