Hurler Arturo Covarrubias gave the Las Vegas Aces a solid start. The native of Chicago, Illinois helped his team defeat the San Antonio Angels, 3-2, at Western Coliseum. San Antonio is 7-2 after the defeat.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Las Vegas first baseman Scott Flynn, facing David Klontz, had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. It gave the Aces the 3-2 win.

"Arturo's a gamer," said Las Vegas manager Justin Coroian. "Glad he's on our side."
