Wolves Lose Contest, 6-3
|
The San Francisco Friars picked up a win at Staples Field, knocking off the Vancouver Wolves, 6-3. Starting pitcher Kelvin Vaquera was a big reason why. Vaquera yielded 3 runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-10. The Wolves, now 32-52, have lost 4 straight.
The Friars got a big at-bat from right fielder Chris Neri. For the game, Neri was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 6th home run of the season gave San Francisco a 5-1 lead.
"We have a lot of confidence in Kelvin," said San Francisco manager Erich Weatherholt.
