Juggernauts Losing Streak at 5 After Extra-Inning Loss to Rangers
|
The Buffalo Rangers earned a close win over the Toronto Juggernauts, thanks in part to Jose Nereida. The Buffalo left-hander, who finished 3rd in the EC in strikeouts with 230 in 2081, played a key role in the 12-inning, 3-2 victory. Buffalo reliever Adam Mimnaugh picked up the win, raising his record to 1-1. De-shi Wen was tagged with the loss. The triumph puts Buffalo at 44-38 for the season.
Buffalo needed the clutch hitting of Cole Hickey to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a solo home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Rangers on top, 3-2. For the game, Hickey had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Jose did a really nice job of taking the ball and giving us a chance to win the game," said Buffalo manager Alex Beckman.
