Chicago Dealt 5-1 Defeat
|
R.J. Mendenhall, who finished 4th in the WC in strikeouts with 215 in 2076, never let the Phantoms get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his changeup, to pitch the Aces to a win, 5-1. Mendenhall yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 5-5. Carl Rodda was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.
The Aces got a big at-bat from left fielder Jesus Fraio. For the game, Fraio was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 20th home run of the season gave Las Vegas a 2-1 lead.
"We're a talented bunch when we're playing well," said Fraio. "I think we showed that here."
Las Vegas, at 42-39, sits in third place in the Western Conference Nala Forcelledo Division.
