The San Diego Destroyers racked up a win at Western Coliseum, bumping off the Las Vegas Aces, 4-3. Bob Castillo, who started for San Diego, pitched effectively for his team. San Diego reliever Nick Campbell picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Mike Hill absorbed the loss. Picking up the save was 24-year old left-handed pitcher Earl Tessier.

Had Axel Castiglione not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Castiglione hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Destroyers.

"It's not by accident that Bob finds ways to get outs," said San Diego skipper Steve Alstadt.

San Diego is now 40-42. Las Vegas is 36-46.
