St. Louis 5-4 Win Hard-Earned
|
The St. Louis Gaedels outlasted the Cincinnati Twins in an extra-inning thriller.
The St. Louis Gaedels needed 14 innings to beat the Cincinnati Twins, 5-4, at Cincinnati Grounds. The win was due in part to right fielder Geri Rengifo, who was 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. St. Louis is now 49-33.
St. Louis used the timely hitting of O-jun Joh to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 14th inning to put the Gaedels on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
St. Louis manager Mak Dolnick praised his team's "no BS approach."
