The Kansas City Athletics weathered a fine game by Tucson third baseman Heater Watkins to upend the Toros, 7-6, at Aetna Stadium. Watkins went 2 for 2 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win was credited to Robert Kamp in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Ignacio Noriega took the loss. The loss makes Tucson 37-43.

Chris Kouri came through with a big-time hit for Kansas City. The shortstop smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 7-6. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
