The Tucson Toros trumped the Kansas City Athletics, 6-2, at Aetna Stadium. Tucson center fielder Clemenz Winkler was terrific. He was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs. O-min Che earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-4. The save was credited to Don Young, his 5th.

The Athletics had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Toros going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the two-time All-Star Solano Antas came to the plate. Antas hit a solo home run on a 1-2 fastball from Kansas City hurler Jose Caro. It was Antas's 11th home run of the year.

Antas attributed the win to his team's "determination."

The 'W' lifts Tucson's record to 37-41.
