Vikings Need Extra Innings to Top Toros, 9-5
The Minneapolis Vikings powered past the Tucson Toros, 9-5, at Minneapolis Grounds. Kevin Sykes went 4 for 6 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 6, to lead the charge. Manny Medina, now 2-3, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The 4th-place Vikings now have a win-loss record of 36-42.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 12th. With one out, Sykes hit a fastball from Ryan Steckler for a grand slam home run. The Vikings, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Sykes, "and then get after it again."
