Heisey Socks 2 Home Runs in 8-3 San Diego Win
|
The San Diego Destroyers beat the Seattle Arrows, 8-3, at Power Ballpark. San Diego third baseman Phil Heisey had the hot bat. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The winning pitcher was Gary Banks. His record now stands at 6-4. The right-hander went 6.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits for the Destroyers. Their 37-42 record puts the Destroyers 4th in the Western Conference Eric Wise Division.
With San Diego leading 2-1 in the top of the fifth, Heisey hit a fastball from Mike O'Keefe for a 3-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Destroyers ahead, 5-1.
"This kind of win will certainly make our fans happy," Heisey told the San Diego Chronicle.
