Aces Take Down Friars, 4-3
|
The Las Vegas Aces knocked off the San Francisco Friars, 4-3, in Western Conference action at Western Coliseum. Las Vegas pitcher and Havana, Cuba, native Rafael Salabarria had an outstanding performance. Salabarria yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. His record improves to 5-7. The triumph puts Las Vegas at 41-37 for the season.
Leon Almazan, who finished 2nd in the EC in extra base hits with 97 in 2070, helped out the Las Vegas cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the pinch hitter drew 1 walk in his only trip to the plate.
"Rafael was dictating to their hitters," said Las Vegas manager Justin Coroian.
