The Los Angeles Stars had to overcome a fine effort from Phoenix pitcher Matt Nyholm to win, 4-2, at Legednary Park. Nyholm went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Carlos Curiel picked up the save for Los Angeles, his 1st of the year. The loss drops Phoenix to 3-5.

Rio Matthews came through with a big-time hit for Los Angeles. The center fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

Los Angeles manager Pat Kaers commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
