Win Streak at 7 for Dragons
|
The Denver Glaciers got a superb performance from first baseman Chris Eighmy, but the Portland Dragons still won the game, 5-3. Eighmy was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. Carlos Rodriguez claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. His record stands at 2-0. Alberto Rosario earned the save for Portland, his 4th.
Du Kau had a big 2-run home run for the Dragons in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Portland trailing 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a splitter from Raul Garibaldi, who finished 3rd in the WC in strikeouts with 212 in 2080, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Dragons on top, 3-2.
"I believe in our guys," said Portland skipper Greg Carpenter. "I like the energy they're playing with."
Portland is now 43-33.
