Dragons Slap 5-1 Loss on Denver
|
The Portland Dragons rode a solid performance from 27-year-old starting pitcher Jonas Juarbe to a win, beating the Denver Glaciers, 5-1, at Portland Park. Juarbe picked up the win for Portland, going 6.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 4-9. The win makes Portland 38-38.
Evan Salimbene had a big 3-run home run for the Dragons in the bottom of the first inning. With Portland leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a sinker from Su-shun Nie, who is a two-time All-Star, and punished it. The result was his 13th home run of the season, which put the Dragons on top, 4-0.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Salimbene told the Portland Today.
