Thunderbirds Keep Streak Alive With 3-2 Win
|
The Phoenix Thunderbirds eked out a 3-2 win versus the Los Angeles Stars at Legednary Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Yeniet Miranda. He was terrific. Miranda, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. Phoenix, now 45-28, has stretched its winning streak to 10 games.
Phoenix right fielder Sem Vreke contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a cutter to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 80th hit of the season and put the Thunderbirds ahead, 3-1.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Miranda. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
