Wolves Drop Phantoms, 1-0
|
Vancouver Wolves starter Kelly Lazell was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Chicago Phantoms, 1-0. In 7 innings, Lazell surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. He allowed no runs. Javier Piloto earned his 9th save, after closing out the game.
Vancouver used a well-timed hit by Bob Shedd to capture the win. The second baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Wolves ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I know we have our doubters," said Chicago manager Sam J. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
The Wolves go to 29-45 with the win.
