Phantoms Thrill Fans with 7-5 Win
|
The Chicago Phantoms defeated the San Francisco Friars, 7-5, in 12 innings. Doing his part was center fielder Alberto Guardiola, who went 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win went to Franklin Lastre in relief. His record improves to 5-3. Ricky Fierro took the loss. With the win over San Francisco, the Phantoms improved to 42-32.
The decisive blow was delivered by Tom Schwartzmiller in the bottom of the 12th when he hit a 2-run home run off 25-year old right-handed pitcher Ricky Fierro to win the game for Chicago. The home crowd went nuts.
"What a buzz," said Guardiola after it was over.
