Athletics Stay Hot, Beat Toros, 6-3

The Kansas City Athletics picked up a win at Ballpark of Missouri, knocking off the Tucson Toros, 6-3. Starting pitcher Arturo Covarrubias was a big reason why. The winner was Covarrubias. He threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was Tony Masso. Picking up the save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Elijah Yates.
Henry Sosa had a big bases-clearing double for the Athletics in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Kansas City leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Edwin Castaneda and swatted a double to center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Athletics ahead, 4-0.
"Arturo is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Kansas City manager Joe Monagle.
Kansas City has a mark of 6-1 after the win.
