Chicago Beats Denver in 11-Inning Thriller
|
The Chicago Phantoms and the Denver Glaciers played into extra innings before the winner was determined. The Phantoms won it, 7-4, in 11 innings. In the game, Chicago first baseman Walter Gravel went 3 for 6 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Manny Larios, now 3-1, was credited with the win in 1.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 0 and walking 1. Chicago currently is in first place in the Western Conference Nala Forcelledo Division at 53-20.
Ruben Betancourt came through with a big-time hit for Chicago. The catcher smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to give his team the lead, 6-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"I like how we battled to the end," said Gravel.
