Friars Stick Phantoms with 8-4 Loss
|
Behind a fine performance from Bob Buell, the San Francisco Friars knocked off the Chicago Phantoms, 8-4. Buell was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for the Friars. Cruz Ponce was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 5 of 7 save opportunities. The third-place Friars lifted their record to 35-38.
With San Francisco leading 3-1 in the top of the fourth, Buell hit a fastball from Jarrod Beckman for a 3-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Friars ahead, 6-1.
"It all comes down to competing and our guys love to compete," said Friars manager Erich Weatherholt.
