Philadelphia Edges Portland (E), 3-2
|
Antonio Avellaneda could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Portland (E) Lobster lost, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Philadelphia Spectres at Sony Field at Philadelphia. Philadelphia has won 4 consecutive games.
Julio Morales had a big 2-run home run for the Spectres in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Philadelphia trailing 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a changeup from three-time All-Star Antonio Avellaneda and punished it. The result was his 17th home run of the season, which put the Spectres on top, 3-2.
"We were in it," said Portland (E) manager Matthew McExpos. "We just didn't score enough runs."
