Senators Stay Hot with Extra-Inning Win
|
The Washington Senators had to overcome a fine effort from Phoenix pitcher Bobby Sanchez to grab a narrow 5-4 win at Legednary Park. Sanchez went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Val Castro closed the game out for Washington, earning his 1st save. The Senators, now 41-29, have won 6 in a row.
Washington used a clutch hit from Matthew Bankson to get the win. The first baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Senators ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"There's no quit in this team," said Senators manager Josh Cooan.
