Win Lifts Destroyers to 36-33
|
The San Diego Destroyers picked up a win at Seaward Stadium, dropping the Seattle Arrows, 4-2. Matt Rook, who is tied for 9th in the WC in wins with 6, was the difference-maker. The Destroyers now have a mark of 36-33.
Gerardo Freire had a big 3-run home run for the Destroyers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With San Diego trailing 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Steve Grantham and swatted a home run to center. It was his 5th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Destroyers ahead, 4-2.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Rook.
