Super Swinger -- Arakawa Slams 5 Hits
Saturday, September 29th , 2085
After a 5-hit effort to lead Minneapolis's 11-2 victory over the Kansas City Athletics, designated hitter Gentaro Arakawa told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Rising Star League-level is really something special."
The 24-year-old player earned his accolades at Minneapolis Grounds with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Athletics.
"His swing is getting there," said Vikings skipper Ace Cooan, who spoke glowingly of Arakawa after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Gentaro did that to perfection."
Gentaro Arakawa hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a three-run double in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
This year, Arakawa has batted at a .291 pace with 182 hits, 27 home runs, 124 RBIs and scored 90 times.
