Avellaneda Holds Tucson Scoreless Saturday, July 29th , 2084 Antonio Avellaneda was throwing strikes early and getting ahead in the count, his manager said after the Toronto Juggernauts hurler tossed a 5-hit, complete game shutout against the Tucson Toros. "I went right after each hitter, trying to get ahead in the count," said Avellaneda. "I wanted them to swing the bats and keep my pitch count down. It worked. I felt strong the whole game, even in the last two innings." Avellaneda walked 0 and struck out 4 in the 9-0 victory. To date this season, Avellaneda sports a 7-6 mark with a 4.19 ERA in 22 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .240 batting average and has 109 strikeouts in 137.1 innings.
