Friars, Wolves Trade Players
Sunday, July 9th , 2084
You can't always get what you want, but sometimes you find a deal anyway. The Baseball News Network is reporting that San Francisco and Vancouver have made a swap with 20-year old 2B Walter Vaive, 29-year old 2B Amdre Ceclio, 26-year old 2B Minoru Kume, 19-year old RF Felix Ortega, and 22-year old RHP Makoto Kikuchi being shipped to the Wolves and in return the Friars would get 25-year old RF John Woodward, 28-year old 3B Ken Draves, and a 4th round draft pick.

San Francisco general manager Erich Weatherholt said the two sides were close to a blockbuster trade before agreeing upon a smaller scale transaction.

"This is just a bit of housekeeping compared to what we wanted to do," he said. "I won't name names, but the potential deal we were close to making would have certainly grabbed some headlines."

A source inside the San Francisco organization said the two sides might not be done dealing, and another transaction could be in the works.

Currently Kume is hitting .272 and has collected 5 home runs, 28 RBIs and scored 39 times, while playing in 80 games.

For the year, Woodward has hit at a .299 clip with 32 RBIs, 7 home runs and 43 runs scored.
