Reliever Balaguer Will Retire
Sunday, June 25th , 2084
Victor Balaguer said he will miss "leading the boys into battle" after this season. At 43 years old, the team leader of the San Diego Destroyers has announced he will retire at season's end.
"I've always tried to be a guy that leads by example and I'd like to think I've been a good leader in my career," he said. "There's a lot of things I'm going to miss about the sport, but I think most of all is the camaraderie with the guys."
Balaguer has accumulated a 103-106 lifetime record. He has 1951 strikeouts in 1679.2 innings and has made 1390 appearances, recording 320 career saves and putting up a 3.15 ERA.
